Get Out the Vote!

Those of us in the political sphere know that there is no such thing as an “off-year” when it comes to elections. Every year is an election year, and every year counts. In my home state of New Jersey, we are right around the corner from an important gubernatorial election that will decide the future of our communities. It remains critical, however, to vote all the way down the ballot. Local elections may not get as much coverage or hype as the state or federal level, but they are majorly important for the services and leaders that govern our day-to-day routines. Our votes decide things like school budgets for our children, who decides our local environmental policy, and the policy in charge of our criminal justice system. In today’s trying present, with the COVID-19 pandemic and an intense storm season, everyone needs to make sure they get out and vote.
Early voting has begun in New Jersey, like many places around the country. Here in the Garden State, folks can vote in person at the most convenient polling location near their work, school, or residence until Oct. 31. If you haven’t voted by Halloween, head to a polling location for the NJ General Election on Nov. 2, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Learn more about what is on this year’s ballot via Ballotpedia.
So, what are you waiting for? Get on out there, and vote!
